Wapesi, a favorite lake for many people for many years, continues to boast some of the best walleye and northern pike fishing in Canada. Wapesi Lake, a 30 minute flight from Sioux Lookout, is 12 miles long and ideal for larger fishing parties. Trophy northern pike and walleye are commonly caught in these very dark waters but the lake is known mainly for the abundance of fish. The area is home to many moose, eagles, beaver, otter and mink that guests frequently “shoot” to accompany the fishing highlights, northern lights, and breathtaking sunrises and sunsets in a prize photo collection.
Wapesi Lake is ideal for fishing parties from 4 to 16 .
WAPESI NORTH OUTPOST- 10 Person Camp
TWO BEAUTIFUL LOG AND PINE CABINS are equipped with all cooking utensils, propane fridge, stove, lights, barbeque and fish fryer. Each cabin has indoor washrooms with shower. Your group with a minimum of 8 people, have the whole camp to yourselves. Our lake manager is on the lake to make sure that all boats, motors, fridges, freezers, etc. are in top working order. Our 14ft. Lund boats all have new cushioned swivel boat seats for your fishing comfort. A full-sized freezer run by a generator has plenty of complimentary ice for our outposts on the lake as well as room to freeze your fish. Our lake manager has a phone to communicate with us daily at the main office so we can keep on top of everything and you can spend your time enjoying your private vacation.
WAPESI LAKE SOUTH – 6 Person Camp
This camp, at the south end of Wapesi Lake, has propane fridge, stove, lights, hot water tank, barbeque, fish fryer, and indoor washroom with shower. Boats with new swivel seats, motors and gas are waiting for long restful fishing days. This cabin is located on a narrow strip of land at the south end of the lake. It is a favorite for many because, if it is windy, you can always sneak around to the back and fish the river and bays in shelter. At all our outposts on Wapesi Lake, our lake manager meets your plane, brings you complimentary ice, and generally makes sure that everything is in top working order so that your vacation is an enjoyable success.
AEROFOIL OUTPOST CABIN
Aerofoil Fly-in Outpost on Aerofoil lake offers you an elegant log cabin. Walleye and northern pike are plentiful.
Tackle those fishing adventures combined with a comfortable stay in this log cabin equipped with propane fridge, stove, freezer, lights, barbeque, fish fryer, all cooking utensils, attractive wood burning stove, futon, and indoor washrooms with shower.
Aerofoil, 50 air miles northwest of Sioux Lookout, is 6 miles long with an abundance of sand beaches, islands and access to two other small lakes. Boats with new cushioned swivel seats, motors and gas are all waiting for your arrival. This is a magnificent lake for both the novice and expert angler looking for maximum fishing and outpost comfort.
LYNX PAW LAKE
This isolated camp, located 52 air miles north of Sioux Lookout, accommodates 4 people. Due to the smaller lake size, pressure on the walleye and northern pike fishing has been minimal and it is not uncommon to land an 8 pound walleye. In order to maintain this fishery , these large fish must be released.
This first class cabin features indoor washrooms with shower. propane fridge, stove, barbecue and fish fryer. If you love fishing in Ontario for walleye and northern pike and have a small group who would like a whole lake as well as a portage lake to yourselves, Lynx Paw fly-in outpost camp is a great destination.

The Northwood Outpost office and bunkhouse, for a free overnight stay the night prior to flying, is right on Highway 72, 6 miles before the town of Sioux Lookout. To drive to our office from International Falls, take Hwy #502 to Dryden, turn east on Hwy #17 past Wabigoon to the Sioux Lookout turnoff at Hwy #72. Follow that for about 35 miles and you will see our wooden NORTHWOOD OUTPOSTS sign on the left side of the highway. Your drive will bring you to us through some of the most scenic country in the world. Keep on the lookout for moose, bears, wolves, and other wildlife on your journey.
If you would like to fly to Sioux Lookout by commercial airline, arrange a flight to either Winnipeg, Manitoba or Thunder Bay, Ontario and Bearskin Airlines (1-800-465-2327 or 1-807-737-3473) will fly you right into Sioux Lookout where we will pick you up at the airport. When booking with Bearskin, tell them you are fishermen coming to our outposts and you will get the ‘fishermen rate’.
