Boaters can access Keg Lake, Gullrock Lake, Ranger Lake and Two Island Lake without portage to further your adventure. Sunset Lodge also has a boat cache on Parker Lake, so just let us know which day you would like to explore it and we can get you set up. Guests of Sunset Lodge who are new to the lake system receive a personalized orientation to the lake where we review fishing regulations, current fishing patterns and navigation. We are set to get you on the lake with fishing licenses, boaters cards and maps available at the office.
Hunting at Sunset Lodge
September is hunting season! There is an extensive trail system in the Red Lake area so quads are a must. Balance the hunt with some fishing for a well-rounded vacation. Great hunting for small game, black bear and moose. When hunting the Red Lake area from Sunset Lodge, you will have access to wildlife management units 2 and 3. Our remote back yard in the heart of the boreal forest offers the freedom to access endless trails and logging roads as well as traditional hunting from the lake.
Sunset Lodge by Red Lake offers moose hunters one of the highest success rates in Canada. We offer guided hunts in Units 3 and 1C. For Ontario residents seeking accommodation only. Moose habitat in the Red Lake area is plentiful. Again you can hunt the trails and logging roads or hunt the shores of Red Lake. Season opener is dependent on the unit you are hunting as well as whether you are hunting rifle or archery, please call to get the exact date.
We also offer highly successful, fully guided fall Black Bear Hunts. Rotating the use of more than 108,200 acres of bear hunting Area and limiting the number of groups contribute to our success rate. The sites are properly baited well in advance of your arrival. We take our hunters in early September. The hunt is an evening hunt so you are able to spend some time on the lake fishing or if you come later in the season.
